Sorry, no posts for three weeks!

I know. Ouch what a title. And the sad thing is it's the truth. Let me explain. I have a relative who's getting married in Uganda and I'm invited. Trust me this is one occasion I can't miss. It's a family thing. As you can imagine the chances of finding an internet-connected computer in Uganda are, shall we say, laughable. We're talking Africa people. What this means is that's there's going to be no updates from me for three weeks. But what I can promise you is that I'll continue as soon as I get back. In three weeks time you can expect the usual schedule of a post a day. That's all I can offer I'm afraid. I'll see you in three weeks people. Here's to the future.

The Psychology of Football: How To Score Goals

Anyone who plays and enjoys the typical English form of football will be familiar with the difficulties involved in scoring goals. For the purpose of this study I am assuming that you already are witnin distance with an opportunity to score. These tips work best if there aren't five players blocking the way. Got that? Good, let's continue. I've been taking an unusual amount of penalty kicks these few days. Of course the problem with playing against one person frequently is they pick up on your habits; hence you have to shoot with excellent power and accuracy to score. I'm now convinced that the skills involved with penalty taking are easily transferable to any opportunity. I've listed a few tips for scoring.
  1. Focus on the spot you're aiming at. You want to build a mental picture of where you're scroing. You only need a glance to ascertain the ideal spot. Try to aim for bottom corners; low powerful shots are harder to stop.
  2. Get yourself in the right mindset. Remember: you're not just kicking a ball, you're scoring a goal. That's an important distinction that makes a lot of difference to the way your mind works. Try to imagine the ball sailing through the spot you're aiming at. Do this and your feet should follow.
  3. Keep your head down. Too many people in penalty shoot-outs make the mistake of looking up as they strike to see where the ball's going. Here's a tip: if you look up it's going over the bar not in the goal. The ideal method is to concentrate purely on hitting the ball; eyes focused on the ball. Remember the mental picture of where you're aiming at? You don't need your eyes to tell you where the ball's going; you know; it's heading for your spot. The human mind and body are wonderful things.
  4. Be confident. As stressed before, you're scoring not kicking. As you strike the ball picture it sailing in. Strike quickly and confidently with as much power as needed. A confident shot is always harder to save than a fumbled nervous one.
  5. As the ball sails away look slowly up. The shot should be crisp, accurate and powerful. Odds are the goalkeeper couldn't touch it. It doesn't matter if he saves it as long as it's on target. But I bet seven shots out of ten it goes in.
For a neat game that'll help you get an eye for your penalties got to freeonlinegames.com. Remember to hold down the mouse for power and aim for those bottom corners! The best strategy for getting better at penalties and shots is to grab a mate and practice till your eyes bleed and your foot explodes. Apply the techniques above and see if it helps.

Crocodiles are the ultimate predators

Did you know that some crocodiles haven't evolved since the time of the dinosaurs? This isn't a sign of their antiquity; it's proof that a crocodile is so superior at what it does it doesn't need to. What it does is pretty self-explanatory; it kills things. Dwelling in the tropics of Tropics Africa, Asia, the Americas and Australia crocs usually mass in slow moving rivers and lakes. They feed on living and mammals and fish. Yeah tasty. But the croc daddy has to be the saltwater crocodile. The saltwater is capable of swimming out to sea and is of the most ancient lineage of all. They hunt large creatures such as buffalo but they can also take wildcats, sharks and careless humans with ease. It isn't a constantly active predator, prefering to loiter in the water or bask in the sun through much of the day, typically preferring to hunt at night. When required, however, it is capable of moving with astonishing speed when required, able to cover 10m from a standing start significantly faster than a race horse. It is especially fast from the edge of the water, where both legs and tail are used for propulsion. As an ambush predator, it usually waits for its prey to get close to the water's edge before striking without warning and using its great strength to drag the animal back into the water where it is usually drowned. It is an immensely powerful animal, having the strength to break a large animal's legs with its tail, drag an water buffalo into a river, or crush an animal's skull between its jaws. Its jaws have over two tons of crushing power. If that's not scary I don't know what is. Thanks to Wikipedia
